Release 1.0.1.198 (2009/08/22)

Message board hand import: The Wizard can import most hand histories that have been converted to a readable format and posted on message boards. The basic steps to import message board hands are:

1. In your web browser, select the hand history text.
2. Copy the selected text to the Windows clipboard.
3. In the Wizard, click on the Paste hand history tool bar button.

See “Message Board Hand Import” in the reference section of the help for detailed instructions.

There are a few limitations of the message board hand history import that you should keep in mind.

1. Hole card suits are not imported. Since the suits of the hole cards are displayed as images and the images are not copied to the clipboard, the Wizard has no way to determine the suits. The Wizard assigns random suits and always assumes that the hero’s hand is unsuited. The actual suits do not matter, but if the hero’s hand is suited you should click on the hero’s hand in the Wizard’s game view and change it to the corresponding suited hand.

2. The tournament structure may not be correct. Always verify that the tournament structure is correct and change it if necessary. The wrong tournament structure will invalidate the results.

Bug Fix:

  • Fix crash caused by Future Game Simulation.

Release 1.0.1.190 (2009/07/22)

Hand range surveys: A hand range survey presents a series of sample hands and asks you to estimate the hand range of a particular opponent in each hand. Each survey targets a particular tournament type and buy in level.

Hand range surveys provide two primary benefits.

1. You can help improve the Wizard’s default opponent modeling by allowing the survey to send your answers to the SitNGo Wizard home. Your answers will be combined with answers from other users to improve the Wizard’s default opponent modeling. Also, because each survey is targeted to a particular tournament type and buy in level, we will be able to create new opponent models for the types of tournaments you play.

2. When you complete a hand range survey the Wizard will give you the option to create a custom opponent model based on your survey answers. It is an easy way to create your own custom opponent models.

You do not need to complete an entire survey at once. You can answer a few questions and come back later to answer some more questions. Even if you never complete a survey, the answers you send back to the Wizard’s home page will help improve the Wizard’s default opponent modeling.

OnGame 5-max tournament structure: Add 70/30 structure for OnGame 5-max tournaments.

Party Poker Update: Update the Party Poker parser to import fractional stack sizes.

Bug Fix:

  • Fix equity model problem that happened when the default equity model was set to chip equity.
  • Fix Microgaming blind levels.

Release 1.0.1.153 (2008/12/03)

Enhanced Game Charts Window: The Game Chars window has been redesigned. The opponent hand ranges are now displayed in a tree view. This allows you to select multiple hand ranges and see all of the charts for those ranges at the same time. This makes it easier to select and compare the effects of different opponent hand ranges.

New Monte Carlo Simulation Charts: Estimating opponent hand ranges is an inexact science. You can never be absolutely sure that the estimate you select for each opponent action is accurate.

Two new charts have been added that use Monte Carlo hand range simulations to account for the uncertainty in estimating ranges. Each simulation starts with the opponent hand ranges that are set in the game view. Each opponent hand range is then varied a small random amount. The hand equity calculations are then run and the Diff% values are tabulated.

The simulation histogram chart provides an overview of the hand range simulations. The simulation hand ranges chart displays the distribution of Diffs for each opponent action.

See the Reference->Game Charts in the Help Contents for a detailed description of the game chart enhancements.

Improved Future Game Simulations: Several improvements have been made to the future game simulations.
Players with stack sized greater than 10 big blinds now open raise to 3 big blinds instead of only open-pushing. This creates a much more realistic simulation than before.
The Future Game Browser has been updated to better show the structure of the future games.

Release 1.0.1.128

Add opponent hand range preview icons: Color-coded preview icons have been added next to the opponent hand ranges in the game summary and game graphics views. These icons provide a quick visual indication of the sensitive your decision is to each opponents hand range.

Each icon is a horizontal gradient from red to green. The left edge of the icon represents the opponent’s tightest hand range (AA only). The right edge of the icon represents the loosest hand range (all hands or 100%).

The color at each at each point along the horizontal axis indicates how that opponent’s hand range affects your decision. Red areas are hand ranges that you should fold. Green areas are hand ranges that you should push. Yellow areas are hand ranges where your decision is close.

If the icon is completely green, you can push no matter what hand range what. If the icon is completely red, you should fold no matter what. If the icon is green on the left side and red on the right, you should push if you think the opponent’s hand range is tight and fold if you think the opponent’s hand range is loose.

The preview icon is sort of a mini-game chart for each opponent hand range. If you open up the game chart, it should roughly match the preview icon for each opponent.

Note that each icon is dependent on other opponent hand ranges. If you change the hand range of one opponent, the other opponent preview icons will also change.

Bug Fix:

Support Absolute Poker multi-table tournament hand histories.
Fix Cake Poker problem where stack sizes were incorrect.
Empirical opponent modeling is no longer used in 5-handed games.
Make adjustments to empirical opponent modeling when effective stack size is less than 6BB.

Edit Section

Release 1.0.1.127

Empirical Opponent Modeling: Add a new empirical opponent model based on statistics from actual tournament hand histories. Empirical opponent modeling provides a more accurate estimate of an average opponent’s hand range than rule-based modeling.

Currently, empirical modeling is used only when there are 2 to 5 players in a hand. Empirical modeling covers most, but not all situations. In situations where the empirical model cannot be used, the Wizard defaults to using the old rule based opponent model.

Empirical modeling is turned on by default. To turn empirical model off and always use the old rule based model, set EmpiricalOpponentModeling to false in the options dialog.

Please note that empirical modeling only provides an estimate of “average” opponents’ hand ranges. It does not consider individual opponent tendencies. The user is still responsible for reviewing all opponent hand ranges to verify that they are accurate for the given situation.

Edit Section

Release 1.0.1.121

Automatic Equity Model: The Wizard can now automatically determine the equity model to be used for each game. For single table tournaments, you want to always use the ICM equity model. For multi-table tournaments, you typically want to use the chip equity model until you get to the final table, then switch to the ICM model at the final table.

Previously, you had to set the option UseChipEquity to either true or false depending on which model you needed. A new option, EquityModel, replaces UseChipEquity and provides three modes:
Auto – The Wizard automatically determines which equity model to use for each game.
ICM – The Wizard always uses the ICM equity model.
Chip – The Wizard always uses the chip equity model.
In Auto mode, the Wizard looks at the sum of all player stacks for each game. If the sum of stacks never changes, the Wizard assumes this is a single table tournament and always uses the ICM model. If the sum of stacks changes, the Wizard assumes this is a multi-table tournament.

In a multi-table tournament if the sum of all player stacks for the current game is greater than the first game and is a multiple of the starting stacks, the Wizard assumes it is a final table and uses the ICM model. Otherwise, it uses the chip equity model.

If you set the EquityModel option to ICM or Chip, the Wizard always uses that equity model.

Fix bug in equity calculations with overcalls and excluded ranges.

If the bet to stack ratio is 0.2, call range = 85% of open range

Edit Section

Release 1.0.1.60

Future Game Simulation: Perhaps the single biggest criticism of the Independent Chip Model (ICM) is that it only takes into account the stack sizes of the players in the current hand. It ignores what may happen in future games.

This limitation is not significant for most situations, but it can be significant when you have a very short stack in the game. ICM does not account for the fact that the approaching blinds will soon eat up most or all of the short stack’s chips. Therefore, ICM tends to overvalue short stacks.

The SitNGo Wizard attempts to overcome this limitation by introducing Future Game Simulation (FGS). For every possible outcome of the current game, FGS creates a simulation of what may happen in next few games. This provides a more accurate estimate of the possibility of the short stack busting out.

The actual simulation of each future game is fairly simplified. It only considers the possibility of each player pushing all-in and another player calling the all-in bet. It does not consider pre-flop limps or raises or any post-flop decisions. However, when you have a very short stack in the game often the only action that significantly affects equity is all-in showdowns with the short stack. The value of FGS is estimating the probably of the short stack busting out.

Improved analysis engine: The Wizard’s analysis engine has been extensively reworked to provide a more accurate and more flexible analysis. In previous releases, a single hand range was used to represent the times an opponent will call two all-in bets, no matter which two players made the all-in pushes. Now each opponent has a different overcall range for each possible scenario.
The fold analysis is now more extensive. The Wizard now considers the chances that other players will get all-in together after you fold. You can adjust any opponents hand range. A player’s hand range when you fold is different from his hand range when you push.

Modify equity mode in the game view: You can now switch between ICM and chip equity modes on the fly. I link in the game view toggles between the two modes.

Hero hand range display changed: The hero’s hand range is no longer displayed in a compressed format. I previous releases, the hero hand range in the analysis summary was displayed in a compressed format so that it would always fit in the view and the full expanded range was displayed in the tooltip. This caused confusion because the displayed range was different from the tooltip range. Now the expanded range is displayed in both the view and the tooltip. However, if the range is too long to fit in the view it is truncated to fit.

P = the number of players in the hand.
